Joeshouse.org was launched by travel expert Ann Calahan seven years after her husband needed out of town housing for cancer treatment.

Although organized around housing options for cancer patients, a call to the organization revealed that any patient with a chronic illness who must travel out of town for medical care is welcome to use the site. The directory covers most large cities and some smaller towns with medical centers and lists discounted hotel rates via codes listed for each hotel that can be used to book lodgings at up to 25% off.
